Redefining September 11: A Call to Service

Thanks to the unwavering support from countless individuals within the 9/11 community, September 11 has been transformed into the largest day of service in America–a day officially recognized under federal law. Each year, more than 30 million Americans and others around the world dedicate their time on this day to assist those in need, reigniting the spirit of unity that brought our nation together in the wake of the 9/11 tragedy.

South Weber City is proud to participate on this Day of Service. Below is a list of projects within the city. We have organized them based on priority. If you are interested in any of these projects, please contact Chay at 801-479-3177 ext. 2217 for more details!

Your contribution to any of these projects will be greatly appreciated! Let’s come together to redefine September 11 as a day of community, service, and remembrance.

Thank you for your commitment to making a difference.

Priority Projects:

  1. BMX Track Beautification: Help us create a cleaner, safer space for kids by removing weeds and enhancing the track’s appeal.
  2. Pickleball Court Parking Upgrade: Be part of transformign this area–clear weeds, level the ground, and fill it with gravel to make it welcoming and functional
  3. Dog Park Entrance Revamp: Ensure our furry friends have a safe entrance by clearing out weeds and sticker bushes, then spreading gravel for a smooth path.
  4. Canyon Meadows Infield Improvement: Help us move dirt to the infield to prevent running toward second base and sliding into unwanted duck ponds!

Secondary Projects:

  1. Veterans Memorial Park Renewal: Honor our veterans by weeding and planting bulbs around the memorial, adding a touch of beauty that will bloom next spring.
  2. Cedar Cove Park Enhancement: Join us in revitalizing this park–prune trees, clean the walking path, paint the court, and replace the park strip turf to keep it vibrant.
  3. Wildfire Prevention at Dog Park: Help protect our community by stacking dead wood into piles for removal, reducing the risk of wildfires.
  4. Fire Hydrant & Curb Safety: Play a vital role in community safety by weeding, trimming, and painting fire hydrants and curbs to ensure they’re visible and ready for any emergency.
  5. Intersection Visibility Improvement: Improve road safety by trimming weeds and tall grass at street corners, helping drivers see oncoming traffic more clearly.
  6. City Entrance Cleanup: Make a great first impression–trim grass and pick up trash along the roads leading into our city, showcasing South Weber’s pride.

Additional Opportunities:

  • Holding Ponds/Water Tanks Maintenance: Ensure these crucial areas are safe and well-maintained for our community.
  • Park & Ride Cleanup: Help us create a clean, welcoming space by removing garbage, weeding, and tidying up the area.
  • Highway 89 Beautification: Clear away windblown garbage and weeds to keep this major route looking its best.
  • Canyon Meadows Path Cleanup: Make our walking paths safer and more enjoyable by removing debris and ensuring they’re well-maintained.
  • Trail Cleanup: Join us in keeping this popular spot clean and inviting by picking up garbage and tidying the area.
  • Fisherman’s Access Improvement: Help maintain this beloved area by ensuring it’s clean and welcoming for all visitors.
  • City Hall Landscaping: Contribute to a lasting transformation by replacing grass with rock, creating a more sustainable and attractive landscape.
  • Citywide Tree Pruning: Help keep our city safe and beautiful by trimming trees that might interfere with snowplows during the winter months (location list available).
  • Recreation Center Refresh: Give our community center a fresh look by helping paint the upstairs of the FAC.
