The primary duty of the Planning Commission is to act as an advisory council to the City Council on all matters pertaining to planning and zoning within and for the City. They also prepare and recommend a General Plan for the physical development of the City (See City Code 10-3).

Planning commission meetings take place on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 at city hall.

Members of the planning commission are appointed by the mayor and approved by the city council.  Each term is for 3 years with the ability to serve for one additional term afterwards
